ABOUT THIS CONTEST

Big Smile is a student video and/or writing contest aimed at providing education, support, encouragement and funding to students who have participated in Spring’s community mission to create oral health awareness within the student body and their families.

The objective of this contest is for students to create a short video (to be published on social media) and/or an essay (to be published as a blog post) on one of the following topics:

  1. Dental health checklist
  2. How to raise awareness on dental health in your school or community
  3. Research On Oral Health stats in US
  4. A funny or life changing memory of you or someone you know in a dentist office
  5. Brushing: Correct brushing removes the plaque that causes tooth decay &  gum disease.
  6. Teeth Grinding: An study on involuntary clenching, grinding and gnashing of the teeth.
  7. Mouthguards: How wearing a custom mouthguard while active, can prevent dental injury. 
  8. Braces: What you need to know before getting Braces

PRIZE & AWARDS

The total prize pool for this contest is $3,000. 1st place winner will receive $1,500. The 2nd place winning prize is $1,000 and finally, the 3rd place holder will win $500

All contestants who have fully followed and compiled with the rules of this contest, will have a chance to be selected as one of the top 3 winners. These winners are selected based on the relevancy, creativity and quality of the work submitted.

CONTEST RULES

This contest is open to all students from grade 6th to 12th who are currently enrolled in Spring ISD schools system.

A parent or a legal guardian of the student must click on the register button below to enroll the student in this contest by agreeing to the terms and conditions along with providing parental consent.

After registering for the contest parents or guardians will receive an email with a link that allows them to upload the student’s essay or/and video entry.

All student submissions deadline for both the essay and the video is on May 25th, 2024 before 11:45 PM CST. We suggest for students to submit their work days ahead of the deadline to prevent last minute technical difficulties that may accrue on our website.
